About Columbus IN
Columbus, Indiana was founded in 1821 by John and Isaac Hamilton. It was named after Christopher Columbus, the Italian explorer who discovered the New World.In the early years, Columbus was a small farming community. However, its fortunes began to change in the 1850s when the railroad arrived. This led to a surge in population and economic growth.
